Phyllis J. Powers, 77, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Graveside service will be 12:00 PM, Friday, July 21, 2023 at Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials in Phyllis’ honor may be made to: The ALS Association or American Cancer Society. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is assisting the family.
Phyllis was born February 19, 1946 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of James Woodrow and Catherine Lavonne (Hopkins) Koonce. She married Bobby K. Powers on June 17, 1963. He preceded her in death on November 8, 2005. Phyllis enjoyed crafting and baking. She also enjoyed time spent with her family.
Surviving are her children: Shelly (Scott) Hood of Decatur and David (Melanie) Powers of Shelbyville, KY; grandchildren: Brittany Hood (fiancé Tony Anello), Haley (Ethan) Scott, Samual Powers, Katlynn Pygott (Tommy Gallup), and Jacob Maldonado (fiancée Jaren Stine);great-grandchildren: Jaxson Goforth, Hank Gallup and Elle Maldonado; siblings: Mary Warner of Vera, Beverly (Kenneth) Walton of Vandalia, Jimmy (Patti) Koonce of Decatur, Patty (Torney) Carter of Vandalia, and Douglas (Cindy) Koonce of Mulberry Grove.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Powers; sisters: Lela Jo and Peggy and brother, Jerry.
