Phyllis J. Lotz, 86, of Decatur, IL passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 11:00am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Decatur. Visitations will be held 6-8 P.M. Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at St. John’s. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery; Decatur, IL.Memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Decatur.Phyllis was born on September 9, 1931 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Edward and Ada (Belskamper) Artze. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and retired from the Decatur Family YMCA and J.C.Penney. She married Edgar Lotz on June 10, 1951 and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1976.Phyllis graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1949. During her junior and senior years she worked at the Empress Theater as a candy and popcorn girl. After graduation, she worked at BB Burns Chevrolet, General Electric and Kemper Insurance as a transcriber.In early 1966 she went to work at the Decatur YMCA as a membership and program secretary. During that time she worked at JC Penney part time in the Men’s Department for 9 years.Phyllis retired from the YMCA in February of 1996 and started full time at JC Penney on March 1, 1996; retiring in 2014 after 30 years. She enjoyed retail work and helped people from all over the world. She enjoyed the farm shows and had many customers from many countries buying clothing to take back home. She met many wonderful customers from all their walks of life and enjoyed visiting with them, and getting to know them and their families.Phyllis and her husband were charter members of Concordia Lutheran Church, spending 23 years as members. She was also past president of the La Sertoma Club.Surviving are her sons; Michael (Jan) Lotz of Marietta, GA; Mark Lotz of Decatur; grandsons; Christopher Lotz of Gardensville, NV, Kenneth Lotz of Marietta GA; sisters Carol Andricks of Decatur, Janet (Roland) Dahnke of Marshall, and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Linda Artze; grandson, David, great niece Kaleena Dahnke.Phyllis dearly loved her family, entertaining, and decorating. Her family will miss her dearly.The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Wade and DMH Hospice, her caregivers Karla, Diana, Jean, Martha, and Bryant. "
