Phillip Raymond Curry, 84, passed into God’s arms at 1:56 AM on May 17, 2025, from The Loft of Decatur, IL.
A service to honor his memory will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (1 Bachrach Ct, Decatur, IL, 62526) at 11:00 AM. Visitation with the family at the church for one hour before the service. A fellowship meal will follow the service, with a 1:30 PM internment at South Macon Township Cemetery, where Phillip will be placed next to his son, Thomas. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Unity Christian School (LSA).
Phil was born to Dale and Hilda Curry in Vandalia, IL, on May 19,1940. He graduated from Vandalia High School with honors, attended Brown’s Business College and then joined the U.S. Army for 3 years. He was an E5 when he was honorably discharged. After the Army, he began his 37-year career in banking with Millikin Bank, subsequently Magna Bank, and then Union Planters Bank. Phil retired from Union Planters Bank as Vice President. He was a very active volunteer with the Breakfast Optimist Club and several other organizations. He filled his spare time with fishing, his upholstery business, and morning coffee with friends at McDonald’s.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Ann (nee Oakleaf), daughter Tracey (John) Roesch, grandson Joseph Roesch, brother Ron Curry, sister Ruth Ann (John) Moyer, daughter-in-law Grace Curry, and several nieces and nephews.
Phil is preceded in death by his son Thomas (Grace) Curry, sister Dolores Ann Curry, brother Larry Curry, sisters-in-law Berta (Larry) Curry and Lynn (Ron) Curry, and nephew Chad Moyer.
