Paula J. Dalamas Garrett, 67, of Decatur, died Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Imboden Creek Living Center with her sons, sister and other close family at her side. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 6, 2014, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3-6 P.M. Sunday, January 5, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Paula was born April 13, 1946, in Decatur, the daughter of Paul, Jr. and Maxine (Grace) Dalamas. She married Richard Garrett May 11, 1968, in Decatur. He preceded her in death April 17, 2012. After graduating from MacArthur High School, Paula worked at A.E. Staley Company, and then for many years was the co-owner of Paul's Confectionary. She enjoyed watching Nascar, spending time with family and life long friends, and floating on a raft while enjoying the sunshine. Paula is survived by her son Doug (Tina) Garrett and their children Brad, Brittani, Brooklynne, and great grandson Grayson, son Matt Garrett and his daughter Megan, all of Austin, TX; sister Paulette Browne of Decatur, IL. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sharon Besalke Hiser. Paula was gentle and gracious throughout her life. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she held dear to her heart and truly loved. Paula's family would like to thank all her life-long friends for their many acts of caring, support and assistance over the past weeks. They would also like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Imboden Creek for their thoughtful care of Paula during her illness. "
