Paul Albert Kaufman, 88, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 11 am until time of the funeral service at 12 Noon. Casual attire is acceptable. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield with military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Memorials in Paul’s honor may be made to Veteran Assistance Commission of Macon County.
Paul was born on May 22, 1937 in Piopolis, IL, and raised in Fairfield IL, the son of Edmund and Christina (Aydt) Kaufman. He married Lorna Jean Ellis and they later divorced. Then on April 22, 1987, he married the love of his life Shirley “Jackie” Scott in Decatur.
Paul proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a truck driver his entire career. He had worked for Lovelace Trucking, ADM, and Schrock Cabinets. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was very active with the Moose Lodge. He was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed collecting NASCAR memorabilia, and was a dog lover.
Paul is survived by his wife Shirley “Jackie” Kaufman of Hammond, IL; 3 children, Allen (wife Yvonne) Kaufman of Decatur, Pauletta (companion James Bender) Kaufman of Springfield, IL, and Shelly Kaufman of New Berlin, IL; 3 step-children, William (wife Marla) Myers of Mattoon, IL Dudley Myers of Lovington, IL, and Rebecca Baker of Kentucky; 12 grandchildren, Mark, Ashley (Lain), Dillon, Collin, Savannah, Cody, Sadi, Tiffany, Janice, Hannah, and Garrett; 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 siblings, Fred Kaufman of St. Francisville, IL, Betty Trimborn of Evansville, IN, and Kenny Kaufman of Table Grove, IL.
He was preceded by his parents; 1 stepson John Myers, and 1 grandson Jonathan.
