Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 27, 2009, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M., Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Homeward Bound.Bernice was born January 4, 1935, the daughter of Walter and Ovilla (Palmer) Lawrence. She married Hubert E. Cole on February 1, 1953 in Mattoon, IL. She attended New Beginnings Church of God and loved the Lord. Bernice worked as an Egg Processor at Park Eggs for 15 years. She loved to spend time with her family. It was her high priority in life. She loved to garden, go to family reunions, enjoyed traveling to Traverse City in Michigan with family, and was known for her creativity in homemade gifts. Bernice was a great cook and made the best dishpan cookies in the world and great potato salad. She was good at giving advice and was the rock of the family. Bernice loved to camp, had a great sense of humor, great restaurant critic in Decatur, loved to eat at Cracker Barrell and loved to shop. She enjoyed her relationships with Marge, Delores, Reba and Helen, and she loved animals.She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Hubert of Decatur; sons Denis Cole and wife Debbie of Decatur, IL, Alan Cole and wife Irene of Largo, FL, Dale Cole and wife Sharon of Rustburg, VA; daughters Nancy Cotner and husband Mike of Westervelt, IL, Brenda Bounds and husband Chris of Loami, IL; grandchildren Ami Cawthon and husband David, Lindsay Strohkirch and husband Jeff, Sheldon Chancey, Riley Chancey, Jessica Cole, Brianna Johnston, Samantha Cotner, Brittany Cotner, Christopher Cotner, Nicholas Cotner, Nathan Cole, Hillary Cole, Tori Bounds, Kobi Bounds; great grandchildren Ryan, Justin, Mason Cawthon, Noah, Andrew, Journey, Eliza Strohkirch, Braylin Gipson, Samanthas baby-to-be, Christopher, Shaylynn, and Brittany Chancey.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com.
