Opal D. Tate, 94, of Decatur, died Friday, January 30, 2015, at McKinley Court. Funeral services will be 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mound Chapel Church of God. Opal was born November 4, 1920, in Milltown, Kentucky. She married Vance A. Tate, Sr. in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1944. He preceded her in death. Opal worked in the cafeteria department for the Decatur Public School district. She retired as cafeteria manager after 20 years of service. Opal enjoyed flowers, gardening, knitting, and she was member of Mound Chapel Church of God. She is survived by her son Vance A. (Janice) Tate, Jr. of Callao, MO; daughter Suzanne Montgomery (Lee Eckhardt) of Forsyth; grandchildren Michael Patrick Montgomery of Decatur and Jennifer (Joel) McWilliams of Decatur; great grandchildren Megan (Colby) Smith of Decatur. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Syrada Hathaway and Grace Shirley, and brother Cecil Stinson. "
