Opal Spalding

Visitation: 9:00 AM on August 01, 2011 Funeral: 10:00 AM on August 01, 2011 Opal Mae Spalding, 92, went to be with her Lord at 3:50 P.M. Sunday, July 24, 2011 at McKinley Court Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 1, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with Dr. Wes Feltner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church. Opal was born March 27, 1919, in Clinton, IL. She married John Spalding on January 28, 1935. She worked for Decatur Public School District 61 in food service for 23 ½ years, the last 13 years as cafeteria manager at Johns Hill School, retiring in June of 1981. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Darlene (John) Johnson, John Wilber Spalding, Walter Spalding and Harold (Sandy) Spalding, 10 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, three brothers and one grandson. The family would like to thank all of the staff at McKinley Court Care Center for all their care and compassion. "
