Olive Berniece Burcham, 94, of Oakley, passed away 2:20 A.M., Sunday, August 28, 2011, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Taylorville, IL. Visitation will be 4 to 7 P.M., Friday, September 2, 2011, with a short service to follow at 7 P.M., at Riverside Baptist Church, Decatur, IL with Pastor John Norris officiating. Private family burial services will be held later at Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL will be handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Riverside Baptist Church, National Kidney Foundation, or Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois. Berniece was born April 24, 1917 in Farmer City, the daughter of Harry Alfred and Anna Violet (Hook) Graham. She married Harold W. Burcham on November 16, 1935 in Vandalia, IL and he preceded her in death on October 4, 2004. Also preceding her in death were 4 sisters, 2 brothers, her daughter, Irene, and a grandson, Mark Chapman. Berniece was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and a former member of Piatt County Home Extension. She farmed with her husband in Piatt and Macon County, served as an election judge for Oakley Township for several years, and early in her life worked at Woolworth's and Chumbley Dry Cleaning and Laundry. She is survived by a daughter, Janice Chapman of Mooresville, NC; a son, Harold Eugene (Janet) Burcham of Pawnee, IL; two granddaughters, Karen (Jon) Klister of Round Lake, IL, Laura (Rick) Zahm of Huntington, IN, two grandsons, Kyle Chapman of Charlotte, NC and Ryan Chapman of Wilmington, NC; three great-granddaughters, Ashley and Jessica Klister of Round Lake, IL and Emma Zahm of Huntington, IN and several nephews and nieces.
