Tootie was born July 31, 1939, in Lincoln, IL, the daughter of Bill and Beulah (Bradley) Merreighn. She married William “Bill” Langley on February 24, 1957. She was the owner/operator of “New You” Beauty Salon for 40 years. She attended Maranatha Assembly of God and served as a missionary on the streets to the homeless and less fortunate, or anyone who crossed her path!
Tootie loved to travel, shop, and be with family and friends. Above all, she loved to share the love of Jesus. She was famous for her fried chicken. She would often feed the ones standing on the street corner wanting money. She was indeed a giver. She mentored and was “the mom that many people didn’t have.”
Surviving are her children; Lori Cox of Decatur, IL and Anthony (Carrie) Langley of Tampa, FL; grandchildren Nathan Langley, Brittiny Brubeck, Lacey Langley, Poppy Cox; step-great-granddaughter Lexie Gifford; and sister Teresa (Rick) Caplinger.
Tootie was preceded in death by Bill Langley, her husband of 62 years; son, Timothy Langley; step-grandson, USMC Private Johnnie Gifford; parents; step-father Clarence “Bud” Burleson; sister Cheryl Feese; brother Donnie Langley; half-sister Tammy Merreighn Huskins; and half-brothers Billy Merreighn, Bobby Merreighn, and Charlie Smith.
