Norma E. Berger, 95, of Decatur, IL., passed away at 9:40 P.M. on Friday (09-11-2015) in Heartland Nursing Home. Norma was born on April 9, 1920 in Decatur, IL., the daughter of Samuel Louis Miller and Della (Scott) Miller and was a lifelong resident of Decatur. She married Wilbur Berger on June 10, 1940 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2007. One sister preceded her in death. Her sister Erma Arvin of Decatur survives. Her favorite son and three wonderful daughters also survive: Janice Lahr of Rock Hill, SC., David (Barbara) Berger of Columbia, MO., and Sally (Mike) Lee and Ellen Berger of Decatur, IL. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Doug (Suzi) Baker, Kent (Taunya) Baker, Todd (Debby) Baker, James (Kimberly) Berger, Rebecca (Greg) Jones, and Heath Lee; and ten great-grandchildren: Jeremy Baker, Jessica Baker, Brittany Baker, Amber Baker, Kyle Baker, Riley Jones, Maren Jones, Braden Lee, Kiersten Lee, and Carter Lee. Norma enjoyed crafts, especially needlework, volunteering at local grade schools, playing the organ, traveling with the Starcraft Camper Club, and lunch with her special friends Audrey and Nellie. She loved animals and leaves behind her rescue cat Lucky. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who always put the needs of others first, especially her family. The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the caring people at Heartland Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday (09-18-2015) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday (09-17-2015) at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garver Cemetery Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Homeward Bound or the Humane Society. "
