Nial A. Ginger, Sr. 68, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, at Rock Springs Church of God, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be at a later date in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mt. Pulaski, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, are assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Nial. A. Ginger family. Nial was born January 9, 1945, in Niantic, IL, the son of Edward David and Vergie Lucille (Prior) Ginger. He married Karon Darline Smith on October 7, 1961, in Decatur. Nial was a member of Peoples Church of God. He was a welder at ADM Mechanical for more than 20 years, retiring in 2007. Nial enjoyed fishing and hunting. Surviving are his wife 51 years, Karon of Decatur; children: Nial Allan Ginger, Jr. and wife Malinda of Decatur, IL, Rodney Dewayne Ginger and wife Julie Ann of Niantic, IL, Melissa L. Ginger of Decatur, IL and her children: Michael, Cerry, and Casey Knutt; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sisters: Veda (Ginger) Rogers of Mt. Zion, IL, Barbara Jean Allen of Delaware, OK; and brother Roy Ginger of Pana, IL. Nial was preceded in death by his parents, sons Jeffrey and James, grandson Rodney Dewayne Ginger, Jr., sister Betty Hines, brother Ray Ginger, sister Alice Faye Ginger-Brown, brother Derald LaVerne Ginger, and sister Vergie Lucille.
