Neta La Mae Funk, 76, of Cerro Gordo, IL, left this earth and went to her heavenly home December 27, 2025.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Friday January 2, 2025, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Cerro Gordo, IL. A funeral service will follow immediately after at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cerro Gordo Cemetery.
The daughter of Farrell and Wilma (Barger) Funk, Neta was born October 19, 1949. She attended Cerro Gordo High School where she graduated with her beloved classmates in 1967.
After graduation, Neta attended Flight Attendant School in Minneapolis, MN. Neta worked for more than 15 years as a switchboard operator at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL, after working the front desk at the local Holiday Inn for more than 10 years, Neta also spent a great deal of time working at a local retailer (Glicks) before joining Sam’s Club 6334 in Decatur, where she was a greeter for the past 20 years. Neta enjoyed interacting with the members and loved her work family.
Neta also enjoyed traveling to the countryside on the back of her Uncle Don’s motorcycle for many years when she was younger.
Neta was raised in the Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo and has called GT Church home for many years.
She is survived by her brother, Glen Funk of Moweaqua, IL; sister, Rita (Leon) Turner of Sullivan, IL; sister, Teresa (John) Schooley of Cerro Gordo, IL; and sister, Maxine (Robert) Welchlin of Overland Park, KS. She also left behind several nieces and nephews: Todd and Mark Funk, Stephany (Steve) Caldwell, Jason Turner, Stacy (Craig) Witts, Laura (Gary) Click, Malissa, Nathan (Sierra) Welchlin, several great nieces and nephews, and most recently she loved the title of great-great aunt.
Neta was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Orval and Edith Barger and Raleigh and Anna Funk, sister-in-law Judy Funk, great nephew Colin Witts, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
