Naomi Brandenburg

Naomi J. Brandenburg, 89, of Milmine, IL, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, at Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Bement Township Cemetery. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Cerro Gordo, IL, are assisting the family with the arrangements.Memorials may be made to Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church.Naomi was born March 23, 1927, in Metropolis, IL, daughter of Walter Elmer and Katherine Alice (Winkler) Speckman. She married Harold Samuel Brandenburg on June 4, 1954, in Milmine, IL. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1988.Naomi was a member of Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, Cerro Gordo Women’s Club and the Cerro Gordo American Legion Post 117. She was a high school teacher at Mt. Pulaski and Cerro Gordo public schools, retiring in 1954. She was a proud farmer’s wife. She enjoyed knitting and especially enjoyed being a grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Surviving are her children: Samuel W. Brandenburg and wife Rosemary of Milmine, IL, Katherine M. Vance and husband Donald of Lansdale, PA, Andy Brandenburg and wife Karen of Forsyth, IL, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Nina Garrett, and brothers Rex, Ray and Dale Speckman.
