Nancy Marie Wright

Nancy Marie Wright, 77, of Oreana died Tuesday (November 11, 2025) at home in the loving arms of her husband of 59 years. She battled Parkinson’s for a decade; a disease she watched her mother suffer from as well.

Visitation will be held 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Friday, November 21, 2025, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur. Funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Wright was born on February 20th, 1948 in Decatur, IL at St. Mary’s hospital; daughter of Ralph Fred Rawlings and Marie Frances (Bloxom) Rawlings. She was the oldest child of 9 and spent much of her childhood and teenage years helping to care for her family. She married Lloyd Leland Wright, Jr. on June 19th, 1966 at Prairie Avenue Christian Church in Decatur, IL. Lloyd and Nancy lost their first child to miscarriage (Angela Dawn), but went on to have four children: David, Steven, Susan, and Lisa who gave them many grandchildren: 16 in total and 1 great-grandchild. She lived a full life with a busy family and still managed to sell Avon for 40 years, be active in the Decatur Women’s club for 15 years, teach children’s classes and help in the nursery at Glad Tidings Assembly of God, and attend some classes at Richland Community College.

Nancy loved gardening and hosted a beautiful display of flowers each year in her yard. She had a great love of all things beautiful and this manifested in her love of antiquing and collecting. She was a wonderful cook and her family still craves some of her signature dishes, like her chicken and noodles and banana cream pie. But the most important thing to Nancy was always her family. She wanted nothing more than to be where they were and have them by her side. And so all the way to the end of her life that is right where we were.
In addition, Nancy had a very strong faith in Jesus, just like her mother Marie. Even into her last days she would talk to strangers about Jesus and how he offered his love to even them. Her family rests assured that although she has left this earth and her body, that her soul remains eternal in Heaven and awaits all those who desire to reunite with her and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in Heaven.

Surviving are her husband, Lloyd Leland Wright of Oreana, IL; four children: David Lloyd (Stacy) Wright of Decatur, IL; Steven James Wright and partner Rebecca Cadwallader of Fremont, CA; Susan Elizabeth (Tony) Kittivanichkulkrai of Mahomet, IL; Lisa Marie (Michael) Carson of Champaign, IL; Siblings: Keith (Linda) Rawlings of Decatur, IL; Beverly (Michael) Cox of Bellflower, IL; Diane (David) Boyd of Decatur, IL; Carl Rawlings of Decatur, IL; Carol (Kevin) Rawlings of Mt. Olive, IL; Rick Rawlings of Hudson, FL; 16 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Preceded in death by her parents: Ralph Fred Rawlings and Marie Frances (Bloxom) Rawlings, and her sister Wanda Jean Rawlings.
