Nancy Ann Judd was born September 14, 1941, daughter of DeWitt and Pearl Judd of Durand, IL. She attended school in Durand where she excelled in music. She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and studied music for 2 years, and while there she met her future husband, Stuart Hawbaker whom she married on December 23, 1962. They started their marriage in Germany, where he was a 2 Lt in the U. S. Army. Their daughter Debbie was born in Germany, July 11, 1964. Following their military assignment, they returned to Henry, IL where Stuart began his employment with the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service. Their son, Scott was born October 4, 1966 in Peoria, IL. They moved to Havana, IL where they remained for 8 years and then in 1975 Stuart was assigned as the Macon County Farm Adviser in Decatur, a position he held until 2000, when he retired. Nancy worked 20 years with the Macon County Regional Office of Education where she retired in 2000. Nancy truly had exuberance for life, and for her family, which she cherished. She was a giving person, always willing to help others. She loved to take her children and grandchildren camping, boating, and horse back riding. She also was an avid Illinois fan, holding season tickets for football, basketball, and loved to attend bowl games. Her love for music continued throughout her life and she shared her beautiful voice with the church choir of Grace United Methodist Church. She and Stuart loved to travel and they visited every state in the United States. Their longest trip was a 2-month, 10,000-mile motor home trip to Canada and Alaska in 2001. They also visited Europe and Hawaii numerous times. Following her initial bout with cancer, she was able to fulfill her lifelong goal of traveling to Australia and New Zealand in 2007. Nancy is survived by her husband, Stuart, daughter Debbie Schniederjan (Joe), and son Scott Hawbaker (Melinda). Grandchildren include Jamie, Megan and Abigail Schniederjan, and Spencer and Mallory Hawbaker. She is also survived by her brother Earl Judd (Barbara), of Ridott, IL, sister Mary Heggemeier, (Stephen) of Owen, WI, and Alice (Steve) Thomas of Arasnas Pass, TX, and many nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 11:00 am at Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Danny Cox officiating. Friends may visit with the family starting at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur,IL. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 901 N. Main, Decatur IL 62521.
