Nancy R. Brown, 88, of Decatur, IL, peacefully passed away on December 13, 2025.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur. A private graveside funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 9, 2026, at Macon County Memorial Mark in Harristown, IL. Memorials in Nancy’s honor may be made to the Poliomyelitis Research Foundation.
Nancy was born on August 16, 1937, in Lakewood, IL, the daughter of Lyle and Gladys (Hall) Street. In August of 1955, she married James D. Spain and remained by his side until his passing in June of 1982. In November of 1987, Nancy married Jack T. Brown and was with him up to his passing in March of 2017.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and had worked in the Decatur School District, as a Receptionist for Doctor Brown, and finally as a clerk in the jewelry department at Kohl’s.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and ballroom dancing. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Nancy is survived by her daughters Theresa Spain, Susan (Butch) Kretsinger, Patty (Eric Jr.) Smith; grandchildren Tarah (Nick), Jim (Debbi), Cody, Clayton (Savannah), John (Morganne), Abby (Cole), Amy (Wade); step-grandchildren Troy (Shelley), Eric (Lisa); ten (10) great-grandchildren; eight (8) step-great-grandchildren; and six (6) step-great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded by her parents; both husbands; daughter Cindy Spain; and siblings Glenn, Duane, Darrell, and John Street.
