Mildred V. Girard, 100, of Decatur, IL Died May 30th at Imboden Creek Living Center with family by her side. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, Illinois. A private family service will be held Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at New Beginnings Church of God, Decatur, Illinois with burial at Graceland Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be made to Boiling Springs Church of God, Decatur, Illinois. Mildred was born October 26, 1919 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Oda M and Dora (Spencer) Guffey. She graduated from Illinois State University with a rural education degree and taught school in a one room school. She worked 23 years at Federal Kemper Insurance. Mildred was a member of Van Buren Church of God where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and served in many offices of the church for 32 years. When that church closed, she transferred her membership to Boiling Springs Church of God. She married Charles Girard on November 1, 1941 in St Charles, MO. He preceded her in death in 1951. Surviving are her daughters, Sue Proctor and husband Dean of Argenta, Theresa Havener and husband Scott of Decatur, Grandchildren: Tony Girard wife Melissa of Kentucky, Amy Modro husband Tim of Decatur, Vincent Girard, Jeremiah Proctor wife Brenda of Mason City, Daniel Proctor wife Christy of Urbana, Jennifer McGrath husband Josh (Lily & Matthew) of Decatur, Andrea Cramer husband Russell (Collin) of Harristown, Elizabeth Havener (Brady Nation) of Decatur, 22 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Robert Girard, Granddaughter Monica Girard, parents and two sisters. The family would like to thank the staff of Imboden Creek for their love and care of Mildred.
