Michelle “Shelley” Lynn Kretsinger, 55, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away May 31, 2026, at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.
Shelley was born at an army hospital in Wurzburg, Germany on October 10, 1970, the daughter of Mark (Virginia) York and Sharon Campbell (Ulrey). Shelley grew up in Decatur with her siblings Tricia (Mike) Schmidt, Kyle (Laura) York, and Vanessa (Brett) McClelland. She married Christopher “Troy” Kretsinger on October 12, 2019, in Decatur, IL.
Shelley worked as a Regulatory Compliance Coordinator at Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois. She enjoyed building relationships with her co-workers and being a part of a team that made a positive difference in the lives of those battling cancer.
Shelley enjoyed volunteering in the community, taking Mexican vacations with her husband, refinishing old furniture, seeing shows at the Devon, and most importantly, being a grandma.
Shelley is survived by her husband Troy, daughters Rachel (Nathan) Moran, Sarah (Grant) Karsten; stepchildren Zach Kretsinger, Riley (Andrew) Urbanowicz, and Mickey Kretsinger; 8 grandchildren, and various aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her stepfather and grandparents.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 27th, 2026, at St Paul's Lutheran Church at 1 Bachrach Ct in Decatur, . Visitation will be from 1-2:30pm with funeral service at 2:30pm. There will be a procession for committal service at Macon County Memorial Park in Harristown immediately following. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
