Michael Andrew Speasl, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather gained his wings on July 26th, 2025. Born in Decatur, IL on November 30th, 1942 an only son of Andrew J and Edna Speasl.
He was a graduate of MacArthur High School in 1960 and served two tours in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 with an honorable discharge. Michael devoted over thirty years at Caterpillar as a quality control engineer. He was an active member of the Decatur First Church of the Nazarene for over 20 years.
Michael married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Stark Speasl, on December 15th, 1963 and they spent over 61 years loving one another. Michael’s legacy lives on through his wife, two children, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
If Michael was not cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, you could find him sitting at a campground with his family and taking in the beauty of the campfire. In his younger years, you could find him at a drag strip with his 1957 Chevy

To honor Michael’s memory, the family will be receiving friends on August 3rd, 2025 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, 2827 N Oakland Ave, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on August 4th, 2025 also at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes.
