Michael D. Hendricks, 72, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family and friends.
At his request, no services will be held. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, is assisting the family. Mike was born September 30, 1951 in Decatur, the son of Wallace Dean and Lorena Mae (Pride) Hendricks. He married Cindy Felter in 1970 in Henderson, KY. Mike proudly served our country in the United States Marines. After his military career, he served for 26 years in the Mt. Zion Police Department, retiring as Chief. After his retirement, Mike continued his service as a Law Enforcement Liaison with the State of Illinois. Away from work, Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Cindy; daughter, Nellie (Rob) Nevius of Atlanta, IL; and grandson, Codie Dean Etnier who is proudly serving in the US Air Force in Anchorage, AK.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher Dean Hendricks, and sister, René Hendricks.
