Michael McGorray Edie

Michael M. Edie, 82, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 3:00 PM, Monday, September 28, 2026, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Michael’s honor may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org, Lampstand Church at lampstandpc.org or the Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation at www.isphf.org.

Michael was born May 4, 1944, in Decatur, the son of Fred and Mary Ann (McGorray) Edie. He married Susan Rebok in 1992. Michael proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He then worked for the Illinois State Police, now Troup 7 in Pesotum. He retired as a sergeant after 28 ½ years of service. Michael enjoyed running, bicycling and enjoyed shooting sports. He was passionate about cars, and he loved driving his Corvette Stingray Convertible. Michael loved to cheer on the Fighting Illini, The Chicago Bears and The Cubs. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and enjoyed playing golf, especially when he was able to play at Sun N Fun. Michael attended Lampstand Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Susan of Decatur; daughter, Jennifer (Chad) Goveia of Bloomington; and sister, Patricia (Stephen) High of Bonita Springs, FL; nephews Brad High (Alane Anderson), Jeff (Kris) High; great niece, Taylor High; great nephew, Sebastian High; and brother-in-law, Sam Delgado.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Colleen Edie Delgado.
