Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 2, 2010, at Salem Baptist Church, Decatur, IL, where family will gather with friends prior to service time. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to the family.Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements.Michael was born January 30, 1961, in Taylorville, IL, the son of Junior Morris and Helen (Seifert) Cotner. He married Nancy Cole in 1984 in Decatur, IL. Michael was a member of Knobs Baptist Church. He worked as a sales representative for Glacial Energy and previously was a Finance Manager for Bob Brady Dodge. Michael was a poet and loved writing poetry. His work has been published in 3 poetry books.He is survived by his wife Nancy Cotner of Westervelt, IL; daughters Samantha Cotner (Shaun Beck) of Shelbyville, IL, Brittany Cotner (Drew Gipson) of Westervelt, IL; sons Christopher and Nicholas Cotner, both of Westervelt, IL; grandchildren Braylin Gipson and Avindeya Beck; mother Helen Cotner of Decatur, IL; brothers Alan Bower of Taylorville, IL, Steven Bower (Marcia) of Raleigh, NC, Bradley Bower of Ft. Worth, TX; sisters Kathleen Bower (fianc Carl Holt), Anne Watts, all of Decatur, IL.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father Junior Morris, and mother-in-law Ovilla. "
