Merlin Glen "Curly" Scott, 91, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Blue Mound, IL, died 12:25 a.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2013, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation two hours prior to service time. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Memorials may be made to Antioch Christian Church. Merlin was born October 11, 1922, in Decatur, IL, the son of Orval D. and Irene (Cormaney) Scott. He married Mildred A. King on April 24, 1943 in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death in 2006. Merlin was a member of Antioch Christian Church in Decatur and was on the Board of Elders for 45 years. He worked for 3 years at Caterpillar, Inc. as a machine operator, and later for 39 years as a construction engineer at Mueller Company, retiring from Mueller Company on December 31, 1994. Merlin was a former member of Kiwanis Club (Golden "K") and enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He is survived by his nieces and nephews Bob (Linda) Lourash of Decatur, IL, Janet (Tim) Beaulin of Champaign, IL, Jim (Kelly) Scott of Assumption, IL, Rosemary Vanneman of Moss Landing, CA, Robert (Cecelia) King of Las Vegas, NV, Teri Gordon of Shelbyville, IL, Marcia (Jeff) Alsup of Decatur, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred, brother Keith Scott, and sister Jeanette Lourash. "
