Meredith Burgess

Meredith “Buzz” Burgess, 71, of Decatur, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at his residence.Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or DMH Hospice. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, will be handling the arrangements.Buzz was born December 6, 1944, in Portland, OR, the son of Meredith Henry and Kathleen (Reagon) Burgess. He married Cathy Schiminski on January 22, 1983 in Decatur, IL.Buzz retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and later was self employed as a carpenter. He was a U.S. Army veteran.He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cathy; sons Paul Burgess of Old Monroe, MO and Brian Burgess of Springfield, IL; grandchildren Isabelle and Nicholas Burgess.He was preceded in death by one grandchild Connor Burgess.His family would like to thank Dr.’s Junker & Gillette, Doctors and staff at SIU Health Care, Dr. Kairouz and staff at Cancer Care and DMH Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion for Buzz and Cathy, and to Pastor Steve Higgs for his help during this time.
