Melba Lacey

Melba Eileen Lacey, 90, of Decatur, IL., passed away on July 11, 2024.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor Brett Hinrichs officiating. Graveside service will follow at Macon County Memorial Park in Harristown, Illinois. Memorials in Melba’s honor may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church

Melba was born on July 5, 1934 to Lorance Fricke and Dena Magdalina Sofia (Buescher) Fricke in Jacksonville, Illinois. She married Winston Lacey on January 20, 1952 and they have been together for 72 years. Melba was a devoted mother and wife.

She is survived by her loving husband, Winston; daughter, Debra Bailey; son, Douglas Lacey; grandchildren: Michelle (Andrew) Dixson, Brian (Lisa) Bailey, and Bret (Bridget) Lacey; great-grandchildren: Cassie and Logan Dixson, and Jackson and Jensen Bailey and Eleanor Lacey; sister, Kay Hill along with several nieces and nephews.

Melba was a faithful, lifelong member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cross-stitching and playing Hand and Foot.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Diana Lacey; son-in-law, Tom Bailey; and sister, Leona Lovekamp.
