Visitation: 9:00 AM on August 26, 2011 Funeral: 10:00 AM on August 26, 2011 Maybelle M. Thompson, 93, of Decatur, IL, died 3:15 A.M., Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 26, 2011, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Decatur, IL. Maybelle was born April 15, 1918, in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of William T. and Bessie (Jones) McClure. She married Donald D. Thompson on July 5, 1941 in St. Charles, MO. Maybelle was a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She enjoyed collecting hats and was fondly known as the "Hat Lady". She was a member of Auxiliary #153 of the Decatur Post Office and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. The family would like to give special thanks to those at Lincoln Manor for their care and love over the nine years that Maybelle was there. She is survived by her adopted son Douglas DeForrest Thompson; sister Elizabeth Tippett of Decatur, IL; niece Shirley Wells and husband Harry of Decatur, IL and a host of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, sisters Mildred Wolverton, Margaret Rankin, Doris Edwards and Mary Brimm.
