Maurine Adeline Mayfield, 95 of Decatur, IL, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Imboden Creek, Decatur, IL.Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 29, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL.Memorials may be made to St. Patrick School in Decatur, IL.Maurine was born April 26, 1922, in Moultrie County, IL, the daughter of Fred Lee and Lena Pearl (Chamlee) Coventry. She met Lawrence Everett Mayfield in school and married him May 17, 1941 in St. Charles, MO. They enjoyed 73 happy years together until his passing in November 2014.Maurine graduated from Findlay High School. She worked in Chicago after graduation and then for Brown Shoe Company in Sullivan, IL before the war. During WWII, she worked for the Garfield Division of the Houdaille-Hershey Corporation in the Decatur Plant which was a secret Manhattan Project site. Maurine later worked at Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou, Inc. a maker of hair accessories in Shelbyville, IL. and after moving to Decatur, IL. Maurine worked at the Signal Depot in Decatur. She joined the Borg Warner York Automotive division in Decatur in 1955, and retired after 29 years of service. Her passions in life were her friends and family. Maurine is survived by her sons, Jerry Lee (Susanne) Mayfield of Decatur, IL and Michael Earl (Diane) Mayfield of Milford, OH; grandchildren, Troy Daniel Mayfield of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Marshall Dax Mayfield of Centerville, IA, Cassandra Marie Mayfield of Decatur, IL, Justin Tylor (Heidi) Mayfield of Hebron, KY, and Amber Marie Mayfield of Reston, VA; special niece, Pamela (Jack) Howell of Findlay, IL; great grandchildren, Kenny Mayfield and Ryne Mayfield, both of Hebron, KY, Jayda Silvers of Des Moines, IA, and Cayden Mayfield and Nevaeh Mayfield, both of Grimes, IAMaurine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother Raymond Coventry.The family would like to thank the Imboden Creek staff for their care of Maurine.
