Mattie Jeanette Erkman, 78, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Imboden Creek Living Center. Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 1:00pm at Keller Cemetery; Lovington, IL. Jeanette was born March 2, 1940 in Lovington, Ill to Cecil (Wells) and Martin Mansfield. Jeanette was a graduate of Cerro High School and retiree from Firestone in Decatur, IL. Jeanette enjoyed cooking, gardening and crossword puzzles. She often talked about the bus trips she and her Mom took in their earlier years as she treasured those memories. Jeanette developed Multiple Sclerosis, MS early in life, yet she was a warrior and was determined to maintain her independence. Jeanette was fortunate to have incredible neighbors in Rick and Renee Bebee. Their watchful eye and friendship allowed her to remain in her home for many years. A sincere appreciation to the following; Imboden Creek Living Center and the entire staff for their love and compassion. Dr. Anthony McCormack and Dr. Douglas Dove. A special thanks to Susie Brinkoetter Bird, her friend and caregiver over the past 7 years, and especially Pat Maxwell and the entire team of Caregivers at Angels Among Us Senior Home Care. Jeanette made many dear friends during her stay at Imboden, but her dearest friends were Sara and Luella. Jeanette is survived by her brother Martin (Jean) Mansfield of Springfield, Il, granddaughters Amber Johnson of Decatur, IL and Katy Crawford of South Carolina, several great grandchildren and cousins. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herman L. Erkman and son, William (Bill) Johnson. Memorials can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Jeanette’s name or the donor’s choice.
