Maryellen Miller, 98, of Decatur, IL, died Saturday, May 24, 2014 in her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2014, at St. James Catholic Church, with Father John Burnette, celebrant. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 29, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Saints James and Patrick Parish or St. Mary's Hospital. Mrs. Miller was born in Decatur, IL on July 13, 1915, the daughter of Julius and Mary (Koscielny) Niski. She was a graduate of Decatur High School and worked for WPA and Houdaille-Hershey before becoming a full-time homemaker and mom. On October 24, 1936, she married Wilfred W. "Wil" Miller. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1998. She was a life-long member of St. James Church, and member of St. Elizabeth Society. For many years, she was a volunteer for St. Mary's Hospital, working with the crafts groups. She was a member of the Kiwanianne Club of Decatur. She handled the mailing of the club's weekly newsletter for nearly 20 years. In 1999, she was named Kiwanianne Sweetheart. Surviving are her daughters Cheryl K. Miller (and friend: Tom Risley) of Decatur, Ann (Tom) Myris of Pinehurst, N.C.; granddaughter Kimberly Myris of Pinehurst; and great grandson Reid Thomas Myris of Pinehurst. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister Lucille Allspach. "
