Maryann Martha Kissel, 87, of Maroa, passed away and went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
She was born June 18, 1939, in Chicago, IL, to William and Emma (Bork) Stewart. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1957 and married Robert L. “Bob” Kissel on September 30, 1962, in Decatur. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2014.
Maryann was a longtime member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Decatur. She enjoyed reading, attending musicals, and, most of all, spending time with her family, who always came first. She loved cats and cared for any stray that crossed her path. Maryann was also known for giving family members a bag of M&M’s on their birthdays.
She is survived by her four daughters, Missy Batman of Decatur, IL, Debbie (Orson) Hoffman of Maroa, IL, Robin (Mike) Williams of Decatur, IL, and Brenda (Kendall) Heyen of Sidney, IL; grandchildren, Amanda (Aaron) Hancock, Megan (Andy) Vieweg, Jay Batman, Shannon (Sal) Percoco, Lindsay Batman, BreAnna Hoffman, LeAnn Hoffman, Emily Williams, Brandon Williams, Brittany (Hayden) Williams-Ater, Makenzie (Alexis) Heyen; ten great-grandchildren; her beloved cat, Izzy; and her brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her son-in-law, Ray Batman.
Private family services will be held, and Maryann will be laid to rest at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton, IL. Memorials may be made in her name to the Coffin-Lowry Syndrome Foundation or Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Maryann is deeply missed and forever loved by her family.
