Mary Weidner

Mary Kathleen "Kay" Weidner, 92, died November 6, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.She was born April 4, 1924 to Harold and Kathryne (Wayne) Rodgers. She married Donald G. Weidner, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1956.Mary's career path ran from Illinois Bell Telephone Co., Standard Oil Company, Manager of Data Processing at the Decatur Public Library, St. Mary's Hospital, and SIU School of Medicine, Department of Oncology Research in Springfield, IL after earning her degree in nursing.Mary was a member of Sts. James and Patrick Parish for her adult life. In retirement she was actively involved in as many ways as time allowed in charitable causes. Her family was a constant source of support and joy in her life and she treasured time spent with them.She will be deeply missed by her daughter Linda (William) Drysdale of Aberdeen, MD, grandson Andrew (Lindsey) Drysdale and great grandchildren Olivia and Sean Drysdale, grandson Peter Drysdale of Aberdeen, MD; daughter Susan Finesilver (deceased), and grandsons Joshua and Adam Finesilver; Marjorie (Jim -deceased) May of Decatur, John (Betty) Rodgers (both deceased); Jeannette Brady of McKenna, TX, Jeannine (Carl) Kaufman (both deceased), and Madonna (Robert) Von De Bur of Decatur and all of her wonderful nieces and nephews.A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Decatur Public Library, Children’s Division.The family wishes to extend a special appreciation to the 4th and 5th floor staff at DMH, especially Dr. J. Ngene. "
