Mary Anna (Peters) Snoke, 94, of Cerro Gordo, IL passed away 8:07 A.M. on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Hickory Point Christian Village. Mary Anna was born on September 24, 1921 in Long Creek, IL to George Stratton and Martha Louise (Novak) Peters. She was a member of Forsyth Baptist Church. She married Oren Backstein of Decatur and after his death she married Herbert Snoke of Oakley, IL. During the war she worked for Signal Depot in Decatur, IL and after her children were raised she went to work for and retired from Cerro Gordo Goods after 40 plus years. She was the last surviving sibling of eight. Services will be 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL, with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Surviving are her children, Ronald (Brenda) Snoke, Hammond, IL, Virginia (Larry Dean) Walker, Cerro Gordo, IL, Helen (Carl) David, Harristown, IL and Cathy Bolsen, Hammond, IL. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kaleb, Brian, Brandon, Kevin, David, Aaron, Kari, Andrea and Amanda. Great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Dylan, Hudson, Stella, Hank, Nicholas, Trenton, Matt, Luke, Abby, Vanessa, Kadence, Devin, Emily, Oliver, Addison, Jarrett, Kali, Lucas, Alicia, and Destiny. Also several dear nieces and nephews and special friends Bruce and Barb Fletcher and John Frazee. Mary Anna lived on the farm most of her life which she enjoyed very much. She was a very strong German and was a hard worker and wonderful cook. She always wore her apron when she cooked and when she put in on you knew she was going to start cooking or baking. She would always show her love by baking you something. She adored all her grandchildren and always enjoyed their visits and stories. She also loved the outdoors, her flowers, taking walks, her garden, and feeding her squirrels and birds. She was very much loved by all of her family and we all looked up to her for her strength and courage. She was preceded in death by her husbands and her mother and father, daughter Nancy Rockwood, son-in-law Scott Bolsen, grandsons Dean Rockwood and Ronald Snoke, Jr., brothers George, Frank, Raymond, and Roy, and sisters, Helen, Martha, and Dorothy.The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Shackelford and nurse Sandy Brown for their comfort and care they gave her throughout the years. Thank you also to all the staff at Hickory Point Christian Village and all of her dear friends and family that spent time with her and supported her. "
