Mary Peterson

Mary E. Peterson, 91, of Decatur, IL, died 11:55 A.M., Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2011 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, December 11, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Unit at St. John's Hospital. Mary was born March 17, 1920 in Cerro Gordo, IL, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Peck) Blickensderfer. She married Wayne Albert Peterson at their home in Hammond, IL on July 8, 1939. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2009. Mary was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She farmed with her husband Wayne on their family farm for many years, retiring in 1982. Mary enjoyed doing yard work and loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Piatt County Farm Bureau. She is survived by her grandchildren Tracy (Jerry) Hocking of Springfield, IL and Robert A. Peterson of Decatur, IL; great grandchildren Katherine Shafer of Springfield, IL, Mykaela Peterson of Decatur, IL, Blaine Peterson of Decatur, IL, Ashlyn Schroeder of Decatur, IL, C.J. Schroeder of Decatur, IL, Brittany Hocking of Springfield, IL, Evan Hocking of Sherman, IL; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne, son Robert W., 1 sister and 7 brothers. "
