Mary Peel

Mary Ellen Peel, 96, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at McKinley Court Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes are assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church. Mary was born February 16, 1920, in Decatur, the daughter of John and Eva (Bauer) Maxwell. She married Arthur “Bud” Peel on March 16, 1951. He preceded her in death on August 21, 1991. Mary was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She enjoyed fishing, watching Illini basketball, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Surviving are her son: David (Gretta) Peel of Littleton, CO, daughter: Chris (Bob) Snow of Decatur, IL, son: Jeff (Tammie) Peel of Greers Ferry, AR; grandchildren: Corey (Kam) Thompson of Forsyth, IL, Angie Nelson of Springfield, IL, Mande Peel of Greers Ferry, AR, and Alix (Ross) Carlton of Greers Ferry, AR; and nine great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud, and brother Robert Maxwell. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of McKinley Court who provided special care for Mary. "
