Mary Louise Lawyer, 69, of Oakley, IL, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018, at her residence. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, Cerro Gordo, with visitation 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, at Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, Cerro Gordo. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials in Mary’s honor may be made her family in care of State Bank of Cerro Gordo. Mary was born March 16, 1948 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of James and Dorothy Pauline (Peck) Sheets. She married Roger Eugene Lawyer on May 10, 1975 in Cerro Gordo, IL.Mary was a member of Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, Cerro Gordo. She was a Secretary for 28 years at Cerro Gordo High School, before retiring in 2014, and also retired from working at Kohl’s after 17 years. Mary enjoyed traveling, reading, puzzles, watching NetFlix, movies, and especially her true joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Cerro Gordo Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and the Cerro Gordo Booster Club.She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Roger of Oakley, IL; children Ami Renee (Anthony) Kerr of Spearfish, SD, Timothy Allen (Lynn) Lawyer of Brentwood, TN, Jeffrey Scott (Jennifer) Lawyer of Oakley, IL; grandchildren Luke Lawyer, Avery Kerr, Adalinn Kerr, London Lawyer, Austinn Kerr; sisters Judy Gibbs of Decatur, Laurel Morr of Oakley, Dawn Jackson of Forsyth; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, brother James I. Sheets, sister Lynnette Wren. "
