Mary Alice Johnson, 102, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024.
A Celebration of Mary’s life will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church of South Shores. Private family burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Decatur. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials in Mary’s honor may be made to Faith Baptist Church of South Shores, 875 W Grove Rd, Decatur, IL 62521.
Mary was born October 4, 1921, in Decatur, the daughter of Martin Peter and Grace Carrie (Johnson) Trolia. She was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School in the class of 1940. Mary married Raymond A. Johnson on March 29, 1944. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1994. Mary was a founding member of Faith Baptist Church,
where she volunteered in many capacities, but especially loved teaching children about Jesus in Junior Church and in the AWANA program. She was active in Child Evangelism Fellowship, Christian Women's Club, and a generous supporter of missionary families. Her care, encouragement, and unselfish love for others will be long remembered. Mary lived as a jar of clay and a servant of her Lord Jesus Christ.
Surviving are her son, Philip R. Johnson and wife, Lucia of Summerville, SC; grandchildren: Christian (Elizabeth) Johnson of Mount Pleasant, SC, Alice Tyler (Lachlan) McCoombe of Highton, Australia, and Hope (Cameron) Church of Mount Pleasant, SC; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings: Martin Trolia of Leesburg, FL, Arlene Wallace of Corpus Christi, TX, and Thomas Trolia of Richmond, VA.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Johnson; and brothers, Lawrence Trolia and Norman Trolia.
