Mary Collingwood

Mary Lou Collingwood, 83, of Decatur, entered into eternal paradise with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 2, 2018.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 6, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Tuesday, June 5, at the church and also one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is assisting the family with the arrangements.Memorials in Mary Lou’s honor may be given to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church building fund.Mary Lou was born November 11, 1934, in Decatur, Illinois to Edward and Lucille (Potter) Eaton. She married Merle Collingwood on February 2, 1958 in Decatur.Mary Lou was an active and long time member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she served in many roles throughout the years. Mary Lou was a school secretary at the old Decatur High School and Eisenhower High School until her retirement in 1996. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Merle; two sons, Greg (Michele) of Decatur and David A. (Rosemary) of Appleton, Wisconsin; and five grandchildren, Joel, Jason, Ashlyn, Claire and Paul.Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and a special Aunt Clara who helped raise her after her father’s death when she was 6 months old.
