Mary Burks

Mary I. Burks, 92, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 2:06 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2012 at Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 29, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Mary was born October 30, 1919, in Jeff, IL, the daughter of John and Ethel (Sons) Mauck. She married Floyd H. Burks on October 9, 1943, in Miami, FL. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2005. Mary was a member and very active at Calvary Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, and enjoyed gardening. Surviving are her sisters Bessie (Glenn) Thompson of Decatur, IL and Ruth Turner of Peoria, IL. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Veryl Mauck, Frank Mauck, sisters Mabel Hester, Chloe Felix, and Fern Gift. The family wishes to thank Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois, Dr. Esparaz, and Imboden Creek Living Center for the loving care and compassion given to Mary. "
