Marvin G. Spitzer, 89, of Decatur, died Sunday, July 10, 2016. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Marvin was born March 4, 1927, in Decatur, the son of Albert N. and Verna (Ashcraft) Spitzer. He married Ruth A. Ray March 30, 1947. She preceded him in death in April of 1999. Marvin was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and served in WWII. He worked 42 years at Mueller Company, and retired as the Maintenance Supervisor. Marvin loved to camp in Colorado, 4-wheeling and off-roading, hunting deer, fishing, and he could fix anything. Marvin loved his 3 cats, and was a lifetime NRA member. He is survived by his children: Sharon (Mike) Gessaman of Oreana, David Spitzer of Decatur, Randy (Laura Riley) Spitzer of Decatur, Michael (Karen) Spitzer of Mt. Zion, Diana (Steve) Gordy of Covington, GA, and Scott (Paula) Spitzer of Mt. Zion; grandchildren: Michelle (Brian) Bayless, Ryan Gessaman, Amy (Donald) Wendt, Beth and Kari Spitzer, Chase Spitzer, Nichole (Jimmy) Pettyjohn, Bridget Spitzer, Sean (Annie) Gordy, Tori (Chase) Brown, Lexi Gordy, Jennifer (Billy) Smith, Stephanie Gordy, Heather (Armand) Martin, and Hillary (fiancé Dennis) Spitzer; great grandchildren: Taylor (Austin), Zach, Colton (Hannah), Morgan, Aaron, Katelyn, Lauren, Audrey, Hank, Riley, Isabella, Madison, Mathew, Mason, Grady, McKenzie, and Colt; great-great grandson Dallin; sister: Arlene Carroll of Decatur; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friend Pattie Hall of Latrobe, PA. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, and wife of 52 years, Ruth. "
