Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with his grandson, Rev. Joel Bradshaw officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, October 23, 2009 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, with graveside military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard.Mr. Bradshaw was born April 26, 1930, in Breeding, Kentucky, the son of Laurel Talton and Ruth Scott Bradshaw. He married Joyce Wakefield in Champaign, Illinois, on August 12, 1953. She survives.Martin was former manager of the Shore Restaurant, formerly at Cantrell and 22nd St. in Decatur. He also had been employed at A.E. Staley Manufacturing Co. as an industrial firefighter at the Decatur plant. He later worked as a groundskeeper at Federal Kemper Insurance and then at Anthem Insurance, on E. Mound Road. Mr. Bradshaw attended Maranatha Assembly of God. He loved to play horseshoes, go fishing, camping, and was an honorary Kentucky Colonel. He and his wife Joyce were regular customers of the Hometown Buffett where they enjoyed meeting many of their friends.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce of Decatur, IL; children Martin Bradshaw (Susan) of Decatur, IL and Debra (Tim) Peterson of Mt. Zion, IL; grandchildren Joel (Jennifer) Bradshaw, Micah Bradshaw, Elisabeth (Erik) Fostino, Hannah Bradshaw, David (Amy) Nash, Daniel (Sabrena) Nash; great grandchildren Caitlin Nash, Anthony Nash, Camryn Nash, Austin Etherton, Cody Suka; sisters and brothers L.T. Bradshaw, Lula Mae Strunk, Ruby Yates, all of Columbia, KY, Bobby Bradshaw of Springfield, MO.He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.Martin was a good Christian man who fiercely loved his family. He will be greatly missed. A special thanks is extended to Dr. Keith Smith, Dr. Luis Caceres, and all the ICU and #4100 floor staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care of Martin during his illness. "
