Marilyn Ruth Brown, 89, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024.
Funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
Marilyn was born January 2, 1935 in Springfield, the daughter of Henry and Emily (Kayhs) Stone. She married Dudley Brown on June 11, 1955. Marilyn worked as a nurse in the Emergency Room at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Dr. Buckley’s office, and Fairhavens Christian Home for 40 years. She loved walking and was a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs. Marilyn loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Northwest Christian Church.
Surviving are her husband of almost 70 years, Dudley; children: Stephen Brown of Farmer City, Denise (John) Goodwin of Boody, and Daniel (Tina) Brown of Bloomington; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren with one on the way; and sister, Dee Kolb of California.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Nancy Burkett.
