Marilyn J. (Denier) Adkins, 76, of Decatur died 1:10 A.M. Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Celebration of life services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 14, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Lowery officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Wednesday, August 13, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Keller Cemetery, Lovington, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the donor's charity of choice. Marilyn was born at home on December 6, 1937, in Cowden, IL, the daughter of Clyde and Martha (Endsley) Denier. Her family moved to Decatur where she entered 9th grade at Lakeview High School and graduated in 1955. Marilyn was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God. She worked for Aramark at Eisenhower High School for many years until she retired. She married Jim Adkins on April 5, 1955, in Decatur, and he survives. Also surviving are her children: Jim (Debe) Adkins, Decatur, Vickie (Dave) Ratcliff, Decatur, Debra (Greg) Riley, Zachary, LA, and Tom (Tricia) Adkins, Lakewood; grandchildren: Russell Adkins, Nick Adkins, Kelli Berry, Keith Ratcliff, Scott Riley, Derek Riley, Chris Adkins and Jake Adkins; great-grandchildren: MacKenzie and Whitney Adkins, Arianna and Andrew Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Glen and Blaine, and her son, Jeffrey. Marilyn was known for her beautiful smile, her sense of humor and her loving heart. She was a wonderful Mother to her five grateful children. We are going to miss you, Mom! "
