Marie Evans

Marie Evans, 96, of Decatur, IL, passed away 10:16 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at her residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2014, at Riverside Baptist Church, Decatur, IL, with visitation 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23, at the church. Burial will be in Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL. Memorials may be made to Riverside Baptist Church Music Department or to the donor's choice. Marie was born October 10, 1918 in Atwood, IL, the daughter of Walter and Dora (Thomson) Ernst. She married Herbert L. Evans on April 11, 1936 in Paris, IL. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2006. Marie was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, where she enjoyed playing the organ, piano, singing in the choir, and being a member of the Drama Team. She also taught Sunday school and was a supervisor in the children's department. Marie was owner and manger of Primp Shop Beauty Shop, worked at Sears Roebuck as Assistant Credit Manager, and later worked for Gaugerdiehl Attorney at Law. She is survived by her children Pat Morenz and husband Bill of Springfield, IL, Darlene Smith-Mohammed of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Anthony Stepansky of Crystal Lake, IL, Lori Harrington and husband Edward of Haines, AK, Tim Morenz of Carlinville, IL; great grandchildren April, Andrew and Tony Stepansky, Brooke and Sydney Morenz. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert L. Evans, and sister Louise Russell. "
