Marguerite Eloise Pauline Petzel-Cravens, age 100, passed away 4:05 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2015. Funeral services will be on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Central Christian Church in Decatur, IL. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00pm. Memorial services will be held at the First Christian Church, 6400 N. University in Peoria, IL on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00am. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound, IL. Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church, Decatur, IL. Marguerite was born December 28, 1914 in Blue Mound, IL, the daughter of Herman Randolph and Ada Evelyn (Gemmer) Petzel. She married Howard C. Cravens on June 8, 1952 in Blue Mound, IL. Marguerite was a 50 year member of Central Christian Church. She was a graduate of Brown's Business College. Marguerite was a musician for KMOX in St. Louis, MO and WLS in Chicago and started her music career at WJBL in Decatur in the 1920's. She also worked for Illinois Power for 10 years. Marguerite loved to play the piano, and sing. Music was her passion especially with the High-Low Bi-Low group and the Mothers Singers. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. Marguerite was a member of the Decatur Women's Club, Kiwanniannes, and volunteered at the Decatur Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband Howard C. Cravens of Peoria, IL; daughter Chere Peters and husband Steve of Peoria, IL; grandchildren Julie Peters and Elisa Peters of Peoria, IL and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Gilbert, Curtis and Ralph, and sister Marie Himstedt. "
