Marguerite Mcnamara

Marguerite Mary Raupp McNamara of Decatur, Il passed away November 9th peacefully at Imboden Creek Living Center with her family by her side. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, November 12th at 1:30 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:30 to 1pm at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home are handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Imboden Creek Living Center or Gallery 510. Marguerite was born on May 19, 1919 in Decatur, the daughter of Carl and Ruth (Theiss) Raupp. She married Harold Norbert McNamara on November 20, 1941 in St. James Catholic Church and together they raised eight children. Norbert preceded her in death on October 19, 2005. Marguerite was a graduate of St. Teresa High School and graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Il. She later worked towards her Master's Degree in Art at Millikin University. Marguerite was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Gallery 510. She was also a member of St. Mary's Auxiliary, receiving her 50 year pin for service. She lived a rich and full life as an exemplary wife, mother and homemaker. Marguerite was a talented pianist and her family has wonderful memories of gathering around the piano in evenings for sing-alongs with family and neighbors. She was an accomplished acrylic and watercolor artist. She loved to garden and cross-stitch and will be fondly remembered for her wonderful meals and cakes, cookies and pies. She leaves to cherish all the great memories of her: Children David and wife Kathy, Stephen, Patty Sobek and friend Paul Francis, Martha Brinkoetter and husband John, Ruth Towne and husband Gary, Jim and fiancé Jill Chamblin, Patrick and wife Sherrie, Timmy and wife Karen and American Foreign Exchange student "daughter" Agnes Weber of Switzerland; Grandchildren Michelle Krieger and husband Mark and daughters Mikayla and Mackenzie, Jeff Sobek, Jeremy Sobek and wife Tara and daughter Ella, Aimee Beemer and husband Mark and children Morgan, Will, John and Mary, Julie Smith and husband Matt and daughters Grace and Jane, Jodi Powell and husband Rodney and children Jonah, Chase and Morgan, Andy Brinkoetter, Jimmy Pirolli and fiancé Sarah, Melissa Smotherman and husband Jim, Maggie Towne, Chris Towne, Danny McNamara, Maggie McNamara and daughter Mary Kallan, Molly McNamara, Joey McNamara, Carlee McNamara and Tanner McNamara. Also surviving are her three brothers and three sisters. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Kevin Sobek and sister Liz Barnett.
