Margarette Meisenheimer, age 105, passed away in Decatur, IL on April 1, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial and graveside service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday, April 6 in Steelville City Cemetery, Steelville, IL. Memorial donations may be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic AssociationShe was born July 5, 1912 to Mary E. and James T. Johnson in Randolph County, IL. Marge was united in marriage to Dr. Grover E. Meisenheimer on March 26, 1936 in Carterville, IL.Marge and Grover moved to Flora, IL where they set up his optometry practice. She assisted Grover in his practice and worked as a nurse in the early Flora Hospital. In Flora the couple adopted four children; Carole, Mina, James and Ann. Marge served as President of the Flora Business & Professional Women’s Club and was the first women to be elected to the Flora, IL City Council where she served as Health & Safety Commissioner. She also was editor for the Flora Liberty News. In 1956 the family moved to Decatur IL where their daughter Lisa was adopted. Marge became a co-owner of M&P Business Services and the Browse Shop Antiques. She was a member of Summit Avenue Baptist Church and served in numerous positions at the Church.Marge is survived by: her daughters Carole Seeley, Ann Gault and husband Seth, Lisa Rasche and husband David, all of Decatur, IL; son James Meisenheimer and wife Carol of Katy, TX; and foster son Bryan Whitsett and wife Donna of Cerro Gordo, IL; 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Grover, parents Mary and James Johnson, sisters Arlene McConachie and Hazel McConachie, daughter Mina Folkerts, son-in-law Chuck Seeley, and her longtime friend and business associate Creola Pribble. "
