Margaret Friend

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 P.M., Monday, November 16, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.Margaret was born July 24, 1917, in Warrensburg, IL, the daughter of Lewis and Hilda Joynt Parish. She married Ezra N. Friend on August 2, 1941.Margaret taught at Riverton H.S., Woodrow Wilson Jr. High and Stephen Decatur H.S. She was a charter member of Maple Grove Home Bureau; 50+ year member of Macon County Home Economists and member of Sharon Community Club. Margaret had been on the Macon County Fair Board as well as 4-H Chairman and Leader.The Friend family sponsored the 1st AFS student at Warrensburg Latham H.S. from Switzerland - Dr. Meile Padrutt Kunz. Margaret had to be busy at all times. She enjoyed working in her flowers, doing needlepoint, sewing and playing bingo. Margaret Friend is survived by three children Dain Friend and wife Cheryl of Forsyth, IL, Lane Friend of Phoenix, AZ and Ann Friend of Phoenix, AZ and sister Doris Daws of Decatur, IL; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and 2 nieces and 2 nephews.Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Ezra N. Friend in 1999 and brother Gerald Parish and her parents.The family would like to express its appreciation to Fair Havens Christian Home and Hospice for their wonderful care. "
