Margaret Albert

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 5 8 PM, Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Church. Burial will be in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church or Donor's choice. Peggy was born July 27, 1937 in Decatur, Illinois to Lewis and Evalyn Peck Merritt. She graduated from Cerro Gordo High School in 1955. She married Carrol Albert on November 23, 1957 in Cerro Gordo, Illinois. She traveled all over the world during her employment as an export salesperson for Tate and Lyle (formerly A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company). After 47 years of dedicated service Peggy retired from Tate and Lyle in 2003. She devoted her time to her six grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud. Peggy was a member of the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church and Staley Women's Club and was also an avid Illini fan. Survivors include her husband, Carrol; sons Kerry Albert and wife Gayle of Oakley, Illinois, Derek Albert and wife, Tracey of Forsyth, Illinois; daughter Colette McCarty and husband Bill of Cerro Gordo, Illinois; grandchildren Kendall Albert, 9, Jarrett Albert, 4, Braden McCarty, 12, Lucas McCarty, 9, Landon Albert, 5, Devin Albert, 5; sisters Janet Slattery of Cerro Gordo, Karen Dunn and husband, John of Avon, Colorado, Kathy Handley and husband, Lorn of Cerro Gordo; brother Alan Merritt and wife, Elaine of Tucson, Arizona; Brothers-in-law Adrian Albert and wife, Lorraine of Oakley, George Albert and wife, Linda of Cerro Gordo; Sisters-in-law Betty Turner of Topeka, Kansas, Ellen Nickey and husband, Harold of LaPlace, Illinois, Gloria Ruch of Cerro Gordo, Beverly Seitz and husband, Richard of Cerro Gordo and Sandy Brandenburg of Cerro Gordo; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, and one sister. Peggy will be greatly missed by her family. A special thank you to Dr. James Wade and the staff at Cancer Care Specialists in Decatur, Illinois who cared for Peggy the past few years, D.M.H.
