Marcia Stookey Johnsen Cole died at 7:40 P.M. Thursday, December 9, 2010, at McKinley Court.Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 13, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, IL. Memorials may be made to Illini Congregational Church, Warrensburg, IL, Barclay Public Library, Warrensburg, IL, or Rock Springs Center, Decatur, IL.Mrs. Cole was born on October 6, 1924in the old Stookey Homestead at Harristown, the daughter of Marshall Childs Stookey and Mildred Wilkinson. She was a graduate of Decatur High School and Millikin University, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega and Sigma Alpha Iota music sorority, Homecoming Queen and president of the student council.Mrs. Cole was a stewardess for American Airlines in New York in the 1940s flying DC-3s after teaching music for a short time in Galesburg, IL. She later taught in the Niantic-Harristown and Warrensburg-Latham schools. She was formerly a volunteer at Rock Springs Center.She leaves her husband, D. Richard Cole, and daughter, Joanna Parish and husband Darrel of Decatur, and son Dr. James D. Cole and friend Cheryl Fiedler of Ft. Myers, FL.She was married to John C. Johnsen in 1948 and Dick Cole in 1959. She also leaves four grandchildren: Ann and husband Jeff Rosengren of Chicago and Lewis Parish and wife Channa of Arlington, VA, and Sam and Alex Cole of Naples, FL. She also leaves one sister, Nancy Hunter of Easton, MD, and one sister-in-law, Derelys Stookey of High Point, NC. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.She was a member of BW Chapter of PEO and Daughters of the American Revolution.
